Dr. John Thompson is an orthopedic surgeon based in Southwest Florida. He specializes in robotic partial and total joint replacement surgery with a concentration in knee and hip replacement. Always on the cutting edge, Dr. Thompson offers direct anterior hip replacement and other complex surgeries using robotic technology and smart implants.
A native Floridian, Dr. Thompson grew up in Hollywood, Florida before obtaining an undergraduate degree from Florida State University. He graduated from medical school in the top ten percent of his class at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Thompson completed his residency at the Level 1 trauma center within York Hospital in Pennsylvania. He finished his medical training with an orthopedic fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement at the Rubin Institute of Advanced Orthopedics. During his fellowship, he completed over five hundred joint replacement surgeries.
Following his fellowship, he relocated to Southwest Florida to make a positive impact on the community.
Dr. Thompson is a dedicated husband and proud father to three children. Together, they enjoy boating, fishing, golfing, tennis and traveling.
